Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about free auto captions, languages, video privacy and exports.

Is Captions Ai free?

During the free launch, you can generate captions, use 224 templates and export subtitles or captioned videos without a payment card. Any future paid offering will be announced before it is introduced.

How do I create auto captions?

Choose your video first, sign in with Google, generate captions in the spoken language, review the words and timestamps, then style and download the result.

Are my videos uploaded?

Caption generation, translation and video rendering run on your device. Sign-in uses Google and Supabase, and your browser downloads AI models. Optional cloud sync stores project metadata, not original videos. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Which video files can I use?

Choose MP4, MOV or WebM up to 512 MB and 10 minutes. Your browser must support the video codec. Desktop browsers are recommended for model downloads and video export.

Can I translate captions into another language?

Yes. Use the separate Translate captions tool, select the source and target language, and review the translation before export. Translation changes the text, not the spoken audio, and retains the original caption track.

Can I create Urdu or Hindi captions?

The Urdu and Hindi tools offer Roman captions by default. You can keep the original-script track and review transliteration spellings before exporting.

How accurate are AI captions?

Accuracy depends on speech clarity, accents, background music and the model. Review names, punctuation, translations and timing. We do not promise a fixed accuracy percentage.

Can I download subtitle files?

Yes. Download SRT or VTT subtitles, or render styled captions into a video. Rendering re-encodes video and depends on your browser, so some quality loss is possible. Back up local projects before clearing browser storage.
